- As for the blog's name: -

I was @ Gustav Ericsson's sight, - Anzenkai, and I was looking at Nishijima Roshi’s calligraphies over there. Particularly there is one - "seki shin hen pen" - about which Gustav has earlier said in a blog post that it is Nishijima's favorite phrase from Master Dogen.

This seemed strange to me. It was not what I would expect Nishijima Roshi's favorite phrase to be. It seemed it could be some Rinzai master's favorite quote, - it seems to express continuous and constant sincerity, - but it did not seem to fit my view of the way Nishijima Roshi saw things.

So - consequently - I tried to think what would I expect his favorite quote to be. But all phrases I could think of did not seem to fit just what I might have had in mind.

So I tried to come up with what I would see it as, - and what I have come up with - is - "this universe out here".

- And this seems to be the right name for this blog here too.

- Definitely.                                                 ________________________

Buddhism as it is (18.7.2021)

I did not relate to that earlier, - but it could explicitly be said, - that one who imagines that homosexuality of both males and females or what is referred to as “transgenderism” at the current time are healthy phenomena as fine as normal heterosexuality, - that there is no fault with these, - as the opinions evidently spreading most successfully throughout contemporary society - does not have the “eye”.

Only this. Now. Written at the date noted above.

Master Dogen is saying in Shobogenzo Butsudo: - (the Nishijima-Cross translation) “That which every buddha and every patriarch transmits and authentically receives is the right-Dharma-eye treasury and the supreme truth of bodhi. The Dharma that the Buddhist Patriarch possessed has been transmitted in its entirety by buddhas, and there are no innovations to be added to the Dharma at all. This principle is the bones of the Dharma and the marrow of the truth.”.

- Had the practical bullshit we hear of the known phenomenon related to as the “LGTB” been correct, - it would not have been hidden from any real “Zen” Masters (or their equals in other paths) at any time, - that is to say long ago.

Such individuals who have indeed come to the [attainment of the] state of what is referred to as a Buddha are most clearly not in need of intellectual revelations and emotional innovations off those who are leading the current upside down revolution as for the view of the aforementioned related tendencies.

- However - having said that it seems clearly necessary to refer to the degradation the term “’Zen’ Master” seems to have undergone.

In the Rinzai sect it has never happened. There things are still as they were. - In the Soto sect too, quite clearly, no one will be allowed to teach monks in a sodo unless having arrived at the real thing. - It is clear from the chapter “Shisho” in Master Dogen’s Shobogenzo that at the time he lived the transmission referred to in this chapter and the certificate accordingly received carried the very same meaning as still today the inka shomei in the Rinzai sect. - At the time they still had the certificate of succession (or “the record of transmission” as Nearman translates it) in the Rinzai sect too, Dogen tells in the chapter mentioned of such scrolls of calligraphy he has been able to see during his years in China.

- Dogen refers in the chapter to “shisho” and today we hear of “shiho” but since he is describing the document itsef and its form as the custom is of writing it, - it is easily noticable that it is the same thing.

- But today in the Soto sect, in spite of what I have said before, - the “shiho”, - the Dharma Transmision - as we call in English, - has become something completely different. - Sometimes perhaps close to nothing. - Else than this, in various schools as they are in America or perhaps generally elsewhere in the west too, various standards seem to have been established I don’t know the nature of. - But however typical silly mocking intellectuals might doubt or oppose, - it ought to be said unequivocally: - There is not a thing close to the real thing and there never was. - Whatever may be [- or not be] the attainment or attainments of those who might contemporarily be referred to as “Zen masters”, (either innocently on their side or otherwise) in those schools, - the difference between whatever-their-title-might-represent and the state of a Buddha [as the term has implied previously] is as fundamental as can be.

The point related to here after the main issue is important in itself, - of course, but here it is only brought as to avoid a situation where what I said before would lose its real meaning. Suppose someone would turn to one who is known by the title I referred to as it is used apparently today unlike its original meaning, - it might seem to prove I was all wrong. Therefore it’s eseential. As for having the “eye” as referred to in the post itself, - it does not require one to have arrived at the ultimate as one’s own master, it is not about that, - however Master Dogen’s words quoted at the beginning of this comment of course are.

So far for this issue.
